Swimming Pool
We have Northland’s only 50 metre swimming pool just 1km from Dargaville Campervan Park & Cabins.
Gardens
The gardens beside Countdown supermarket just opposite Dargaville Campervan Park are worth a look around. They were opened in 2004. There is a gateway through the Countdown car park and there is a ship for children to play on. A great place for a picnic lunch.
Shopping
Check out the main shopping centre area. We have an assortment of quality shops in town for gifts, clothes, sports equipment and food.
Dargaville Museum
Well worth a visit and has a lovely outlook over Dargaville. There is also a historic walk along Mangawhare and up to the museum. http://www.dargavillemuseum.co.nz/
Historic River Cruise on the “Daisy”
90 minute cruise on the mighty Northern Wairoa River – learn some of the history of the kauri timber milling days, the sailing ships, the stories of the past. Bookings at Reception.
Kauri Gallery in Dargaville
Nelson’s Kaihu Kauri gallery situated at Kaihu 30 kms North of Dargaville, on State Highway 12. The 750 square metre octagonal gallery is supported by a 30-ton Ancient Kauri log centrepiece.

Things to do on The Kauri Coast
Kai Iwi Lakes
A popular holiday spot, well worth a day’s visit. Great for trout fishing, fun for families and general sightseeing. 20 – 30 minutes from Dargaville
Beaches
Miles of white sandy beaches await you to explore them. Take an organised trip, go fishing, walking, surfing, or swimming. Make sure that you swim on the incoming tide.
Glinks Gully is 15-20 minutes drive away and Baylys Beach just 10 minutes. Pouto Point with an historic lighthouse and gigantic sand dunes is approx. 1 hour away, tours are available, enquire at the campground office.
Walks
Tokatoka Peak is ideal for those liking a good walk. Breathtaking views from the top!
Waipoua Forest
Visit Tane Mahuta, the largest remaining Kauri tree – a great tourist attraction about an hours drive from Dargaville.
Trounson Kauri Reserve
Take an easy 40 minute loop walk through stands of magnificent Kauri trees.
